I think it's right that this is about Scottish Culture. It's like the catch-22, Scotland has always been a progressive country and part of its culture is changing, Scotland can only be who it is by continuing to change.
You could certainly interpret a progressive relationship with someone in the same way, if you're constantly trying to better each other there is always room for change, even if you love each other for who you already are.
don't hold on for the sake of holding on, and don't expect everything to be equal and perfect, there is no perfect, there is no "always". this of course referring to relationships. thats what I think at least.
hmm, i don't think this has anything to do with relationships, i think its about scottish culture and how its getting lost in modern society because ppl aren't staying true to their national identity. Roddy wants things to stay the same but people are changing.
