Things Can Only Get Better Lyrics

We're not scared to lose it all
Security throw through the wall
Future dreams we have to realize
A thousand sceptic hands
Won't keep us from the things we plan
Unless we're clinging to the things we prize

And do you feel scared - I do
But I won't stop and falter
And if we threw it all away
Things can only get better
Wow wow wow oh, wow wow wow oh oh oh oh

Treating today as though it was
The last, the final show
Get to sixty and feel no regret
It may take a little time
A lonely path, an uphill climb
Success or failure will not alter it

And do you feel
Wow wow wow oh...

And do you feel...

I was in my 20's when this song was popular, and to me it's a reflection of the optimism of youth. Live each day like it's your last, get out there and have the life you really want...well, now I'm closer to 60 than 20, and although I can tell you no one even reaches 45 without regret, the attitude of the song is still a good one to have. Whatever you regret, you make changes, get your life back, and keep on climbing. "Success or failure will not alter it."

I love this song. It's so postive and upbeat, great 80s fun. It just means, things can't get any worse, only better. Live it up, forget regret, just keep trying no matter how scary it may be.

This is Buddhist philosophy awkwardly fused to a misleading "uplifting" lyric.
