Too Happy Lyrics
If you
were meant
to see
the end
then as a friend I've failed
I
can't
recall
quite where things turned
to lies and hurt
the currency of things not working out
maybe, it's just me
and we're all too happy
Did you recall?
There's no way of knowing
Now you
have gone
to move things on
and give your time to something else
You know that nothing's ever owned
But only loaned
It doesn't mean you like to give things back
were meant
to see
the end
then as a friend I've failed
can't
recall
quite where things turned
to lies and hurt
the currency of things not working out
and we're all too happy
Did you recall?
There's no way of knowing
have gone
to move things on
and give your time to something else
But only loaned
It doesn't mean you like to give things back

this is a really great song. get it. love them.
i think this song is about a relationship going sour and still really caring about each other. but you no longer 'get' each other on the same level.
I think the lines "maybe it's just me and we're all too happy" reveals that no matter how close you are to someone and how well you at one point got someone at this juncture in time you can't even tell how the other is feeing. It's a never-ending cycle of sadness and hope. That goes through from thinking you get eachother, to not knowing (there's no way of knowing), to eventually having to just give all the love back becuase you never really own anything... it is only 'loaned' for a short glimmer of deeper understanding. it;s horribly hard to give it back, but you know you must do it.
