Got To Be Certain Lyrics
You keep on asking me
Why can't we be together
I keep saying
Won't you wait a while
What's all the hurry
I thought we had forever
I just need time
'Til I can make up my mind
I'm not asking for
A love to last forever
I don't expect to get a guarantee
It's just that I believe
Lovers should stick together
I'm only saying
Won't you wait for me
I've got to be
Got to be certain
I've got to be
So sure
I've had my share of hearts broken
And I don't want to take that anymore
I've got some friends who say
Boys are all the same
They're only looking out for
Just one thing
I'm only hoping that
You don't turn out like that
I need some time
'Til I can make up my mind
Been hurt in love before
But I still come back for more
Was such a fool
I couldn't help myself
If you believe in me
If you want our love to be
I know you'll wait for me
I've got to be
Got to be certain
I've got to be
So sure
I've had my share of hearts broken
And I don't want to take that anymore
Why can't we be together
I keep saying
Won't you wait a while
What's all the hurry
I thought we had forever
I just need time
'Til I can make up my mind
A love to last forever
I don't expect to get a guarantee
It's just that I believe
Lovers should stick together
I'm only saying
Won't you wait for me
Got to be certain
I've got to be
So sure
I've had my share of hearts broken
And I don't want to take that anymore
Boys are all the same
They're only looking out for
Just one thing
I'm only hoping that
You don't turn out like that
I need some time
'Til I can make up my mind
But I still come back for more
Was such a fool
I couldn't help myself
If you believe in me
If you want our love to be
I know you'll wait for me
Got to be certain
I've got to be
So sure
I've had my share of hearts broken
And I don't want to take that anymore
After "Locomotion" (cover of Little Eva, re-recorded in 1988 under the title "The Loco-Motion") and "I Should Be So Lucky", it is the third single of the Australian singer. The first to record the track was not Kylie but Mandy Smith, another singer from the PWL team, in 1986/1987 (not released at the time). Kylie picked it up a bit later and released it as a single. So, Mandy's version remained in the vaults until 2005, year of publication of a SAW successes compilation, Stock Aitken Waterman Gold, where it appears as the bonus track. There is a Cantonese version, "Lian Ai Lie Ren" (戀愛獵人), sung by Sarah Wong on the album Who Is She? in 1988.
