Seven Drunken Nights Lyrics
well, as i came home on Monday night
as drunk as drunk could be
I sar a harse outside the door
where my old harse should be
so i called the whife and i said to her, "Will you kindly tell to me, who owns that harse outside the dar where moy old harse should be?"
"aaah ya drunk ya drunk you silly old fool, i tell you cannot see thats a lovely Sow that me mother sent to me"
"where many a days I travel, a hundered miles or more, but a sow with a saddle on, i never saw before"
Now, as I came home on Tuesday night
as drunk as drunk could be
i sar a coat behind the dar where moy old coat should be
so i called the whife and said to her, "WIll you kindly tell to me, who owns that coat behind the dar, where moy old coat should be?"
"aaah, ya drunk ya drunk ya silly old fool, i tell you cannot see, thats a lovely blanket that me mother sent to me"
"well many's the day i travel, a hundred mile or more, but buttons on a blanket sure I never seen before"
And as i went home on wednesday night
as drunk as drunk could be
I sar a pipe upon the chair where moy old pipe should be
I called the whife and i said to her, "will you kindly tell to me, who owns that pipe upon the chair, where my old pipe should be?"
"aaah ya drunk ya drunk, ya silly old fool, still ya cannot see, thats a lovely tin whistle that me mother sent to me."
"well a manys the day i travel, a hundered miles or more, but tobacco in a tin whistle sure i never seen before"

the last two verses are rarely sung because of the 'crudeness' of them. The dubliners rarely sung them and as such all the bands (the tossers for example) that covered dubliners versions of the song dont sing them
i`ve never understood why this song is called "Seven Drunken Nights" yet only has verses to cover 5 drunken nights. guess that could be part of the point, he's so drunk he think's it's been a week but it's been 5 days.
You'll understand once you hear the other two verses, lol.

this songs even better after tony pukes all over the stage :]
haha, yeah, i don`t remember if it was this song or not, but during their show in Columbus with Flogging Molly earlier this year he started a song then jumped off stage, came back with a bucket, put the bucket down in front of the drumset, finished the song, puked in the bucket, chugged a Guinness, lit a cigarette and tore into the next song. he repeated this pattern several times between songs. it was quite badass.
he makes me proud to be irish haha
i don't really like their version very much. the dubliners do this song the best.
anyone know of any recorded versions of this song that have the final verse where the wife says ""AHHH! ya drunk ya durnk ya silly old fool, tell ya cannot see, that's an Englishman that me mother sent to me" and the husband replies: ""Well it's manys a day i travel, a hundred miles or more, But an Englishman that can last 'til three, i never seen before"? i have heard it in several pubs live, but haven`t found a recorded version of it. if anyone knows of one, please let me know.
