Finishing Touches Lyrics

I'm getting tired of you
You're getting tired of me
And it's the final act
Of our little tragedy
So don't feign indignation
It's a fait accompli

CHORUS
You can screw everybody I've ever known
But I still won't talk to you on the phone
It's a hopeless cause-there's no use crying
And I can die, yu can die,
We can die trying
Thanks anyway, no use hangin' around
You try to put the finishing touches on me

You say it's all my fault
Who's keeping score?
Some people llike to be punished
They keep coming back for more
But I'm sick and tired
And my cock is sore

CHORUS

Wonderful breakup song by the master of punk-blues-rock heartache and personal liberty Warren Zevon, the greatest poet of his generation

So much seething under the surface! Tight rhythm section - the late MAGNIFICENT Jeff Porcaro on drums, unparalleled session man Bob Glaub on bass. Then there's Waddy on guitar - no more need be said. Note that the volume increases, the tension mounts, and Jeff never hits a cymbal. Altogether amazing. My favourite Zevon song by far.

I think we're coming up on the anniversary of his death...almost 20 years. There are so many perfect songs on this album. I had "Mr Bad Example" printed on my business cards after hearing it the first time! Gone too soon...Wake me up for meals Norman.
