i don't think the lyrics are on the 'gay' side, since i think he's talking about a special someone of his and he's going through some tough times, but then he says "if you came with me, the days would never end, it'd never be the same" which i think means that it'll get better as we progress through life

But like I said I don't really pay attention. To me the lyrics in this song are there to pass time between the instrumental parts. The first twenty seconds, for example, is one of the catchiest pieces of music I've ever heard.

What it means to me is the sun coming up on yet another ecstasy fuelled party, with friends I loved, in the mid 1990s and living the kind of life I always wanted.
The brilliance of Noel's art lies in the ability of the person experiencing it to transfer their own meaning.
It will have meant something to Noel, but I don't think he's making a specific point.
This is an amazing song. No argument. The lyrics are maybe a bit on the gay side but overall this song is just superb. Put it on a compilation tape for someone and see how pleased they will be.
Agree the lyrics are on the gay side, I've never really paid attention though. The melody is awesome.
