"There's The Girl" as written by and Nancy Wilson Holly Knight....
Is it that we´ve been together much too long
The answer may not be in black and white
We´re always trying to prove who´s right or wrong
Yet now we´re giving up without a fight
But I know when you´re gone
I´ll wish I´d held in

So baby surrender to me
There´ll be no holding back now
So baby surrender to me tonight

I don´t want our love to cause you so much pain
If this is how it´s going to be, I´ll walk away
Neither one of us should ever say goodbye
Let´s forget about the past and who´s to blame
´Cause when this is all gone
We´ll wish we´d held on

So baby surrender to me
There´ll be no holding back now
So baby surrender to me tonight

How could this love be in danger?
That used to be so good, so right
To think that fate could make us strangers
Has thrown me in your arms tonight

So baby surrender to me
There´ll be no holding back now
So baby surrender to me tonight

General CommentWell, these lyrics from the actual song compared to the lyrics in the video change my view. Extra lyrics include the lines, "She's gonna break your heart again" and "She's setting you up (my friend?)" - I originally thought it was about a guy who lost interest in someone after being in love for such a long time. With extra lyrics, I'm now not sure.

General CommentI just saw Heart last week and Nancy said she wrote this about a male friend of hers.

I had always heard the lyrics as telling him off. Lines like "She's not good enough, for the likes of you." as her calling the guy arrogant.

Turns out she meant that literally. She was speaking to a good guy who kept going back to a woman who was bad for him.

General CommentGot to know this song 17 years ago, one of my favorites and was hard to understand the lyrics. Knew it was a guy I love with someone, but unsure if the girl was good or not. Last year I went through the same situation ,for the first time in my life, described in the lyrics and know the answer, it’s about a toxic and emotional codependent relationship... the guy do suffered a lot during and if he was able to, to overcome it...
