A Thank You Note

once upon a summer's night four a.m. you are sleeping tight i sneak my way into your apartment i see the pictures on the wall and the places they will fall when i won't be around to catch them i close the door behind take my shoes off for the last time i feign this indifference but a piece of me will always stay this is not goodbye but i guess it sort of is this is the hardest thing i'll do with you if we could make it through these years who knew we'd go so far and so far is where i'm gonna be picture perfect while you sleep a memory i'll always keep you're always subtle with your eyes closed your pillow's wet from where you cried worn and faded from our lie i kiss your eyelids for the last time please don't wake up it's better if we part like this it started with a silent stare and ended with a silent kiss i'm leaving now but my heart will always stay under the covers on this night that i had to move far way i'm leaving now but my heart will always stay under the covers with you dear on the night that you got away so i just want to thank you for the best thing that i've ever had
