(Feels Like) Heaven Lyrics

Heaven is closer now today
The sound is in my ears
I can't believe the things you say
They echo what I fear
Twisting the bones until they snap
I scream but no one knows
You say I'm familiar cold to touch
And then you turn and go

Feels like heaven...

See how we planned for saddened eyes
And tears to pave the way
I fought the fever as I knew
My hair would turn to grey
Study your face and fade the frame
Too close for comfort now
We can recall the harmony
That lingered but turned sour

Feels like heaven...

You wanted all I had to give
See me I feel, see me I live

being set free in a love-less, long term relationship

The lyrics describe the feeling of longing for a lost love and the sense of emptiness that comes with it.

The singer compares the feeling to being in heaven but also acknowledges that it's a painful and difficult experience.

The repetition of the phrase "Feels like heaven" highlights the contrast between the idea of heaven being a peaceful and desirable place, but in this context, it's a painful reminder of what's been lost. It also touches on themes of regret, longing, and the passage of time.

Talks about a bitter break up not a love story

Yes it’s about a relationship but it’s about the collapse of the “I” and freeing yourself from your ego and connecting with the Devine.

This is definitely one of those songs where you can find a different meaning in it each time you listen to it, especially with its melancholy sound. Sometimes when I'm feeling down, I just put this song on and really hear the darker lyrics and just kind of drift away. In that sense the song almost reads like a suicide note. But other times, when I've been through a difficult relationship, the song feels like a bitter breakup, and other times a love confession. Its one of those very beautiful dynamic songs that can just truly speak to any lister.
