Wasted On The Way Lyrics
Look around me
I can see my life before me
Running rings around the way
It used to be
I am older now
I have more than what I wanted
But I wish that I had started
Long before I did
CHORUS:
And there's so much time to make up
Everywhere you turn
Time we have wasted on the way
So much water moving
Underneath the bridge
Let the water come and carry us away
Oh when you were young
Did you question all the answers
Did you envy all the dancers
Who had all the nerve
Look round you know
You must go for what you wanted
Look at all my friends who did and got what they deserved
CHORUS
And there's so much love to make up
Everywhere you turn
Love we have wasted on the way
So much water moving
Underneath the bridge
Let the water come and carry us away
Let the water come and carry us away
I can see my life before me
Running rings around the way
It used to be
I have more than what I wanted
But I wish that I had started
Long before I did
And there's so much time to make up
Everywhere you turn
Time we have wasted on the way
So much water moving
Underneath the bridge
Let the water come and carry us away
Did you question all the answers
Did you envy all the dancers
Who had all the nerve
You must go for what you wanted
Look at all my friends who did and got what they deserved
Everywhere you turn
Love we have wasted on the way
So much water moving
Underneath the bridge
Let the water come and carry us away
Let the water come and carry us away

This song is written by Graham Nash about making up with Stephen Stills after the big argument that Graham Nash and David Crosby had with Stephen Stills and Neil Young for wiping their vocals off of the recording of Long May You Run (which they had recorded before Nash and Crosby had to leave for solo commitments) and releasing the song under the name The Stills-Young Band instead of CSNY. Young later abandoned Stills on a tour. Stills wife also filed for divorce. Nash's future wife talked Nash and Crosby to make up with Stills in the following year and they have been singing, recording and touring together since.
this is a great song..........first post!
About looking back on your life and being happy with it but wishing you could start sooner and get to live now instead of wasting time.
im now the dancer who has all the nerve, but i wasnt always that way. it took me a long time to become comfortable me life and how im living it, but i am truly coming into my own, and i guess thats why this song is so important to me. it is a song of my childhood, and it reminds me of how much i have actually lived so far, and allows me think to how much i still have left to life.

The basic theme is "it's never too late". They "went for it" when young, and became successful beyond their dreams, so now they're encouraging others to do the same.
It's advice for people in their 50s, but it's also advice for people in their 30s and 40s. You will waste your time along the way. But later you will be thankful, and forgiving toward yourself.
