The idea of this song actually came from a show Chris Rock put on where he said that if your patner ever catches you just say it wasn´t me.Shaggy released it on the Net months before anyone picked it up. It is a greta Dancehall album. The lyrics are kinda gay,but hey can you really even understand Shaggy anyway?
Where do people get the idea that this is a homosexual song or "gay"? The only thing that even mentions homosexuality or says anything homosexual is the line "If she say you're not, convince her say you're gay." Which is just an excuse for why "it wasn't me." He was caught with another woman, and if Shaggy just altered a story about being caught with a male partner into an easier-to-swallow story about being caught with another woman, well, I haven't heard it so tell me. Yes it's hard to understand the verses but they're pretty funny anways... he's speaking Jamaican or "Shag-ese." The timing of this song was good, it reminds me of Bill Clinton. When accused of cheating, just deny, deny, deny! :-)

You'd all be surprised how often "It wasn't me" or "I didn't do it" will work if you say it enough when caught lying or cheating.
I think that's what this song is about really. It's human nature to trust someone you care about.
Thus, even if there is hard evidence linking you to something such as cheating ("she even had it on camera"), by saying and acting as if you did nothing wrong will eventually work.
Pretty gay song, but at least it is a little more upbeat than the whiskey lullaby song about a cheating whore.
