Drugs Lyrics

And all I see is little dots
Some are smeared and some are spots
Feels like a murder but that's alright
Somebody said there's too much light
Pull down the shade and it's alright
It'll be over in a minute or two.

I'm charged up...Don't put me down
Don't feel like talking...Don't mess around
I feel mean...I feel O.K.
I'm charged up...Electricity

The boys are making a big mess
This makes the girls all start to laugh
I don't know what they're talking about
The boys are worried, the girls are shocked
They pick the sound and let it drop
Nobody know what they're talking about

I'm charged up...I'm kinda wooden
I'm barely moving...I study motion
I study myself...I fooled myself
I'm charged up...It's pretty intense.
I'm charged up...Don't put me down
Don't feel like talking...Don't mess around
I feel mean...I feel O.K.
I'm charged up...Electricity.

It's self explanatory, but nevertheless, it's amazing!!! I just love to turn all the lights off in my apartment, lay down, close my eyes, and listen to this song. It's so entrancing! David Byrne is a genius...

the words are totally irrelevant, though the lyrics are quite good. the delivery is impeccable. the instrumentation is unlike anything eno or byrne has ever done before or since. a completely original, beautiful experience. i'm rather upset it receives so little mention amongst so-called talking heads connoisseurs and others. i claim nothing, except that this song is remarkable

I attended a lecture Eno gave in Davis, CA years and years ago. He talked about how, after having recorded a bunch of instrumentation for this song, during mixing they decided to try removing things. So, for example, they'd take out three snare hits and leave the fourth. He said it was really difficult taking away stuff after having gone through the effort of putting it on tape. He played a clip of the original, comparatively busy arrangement, then played what they release; the difference was really impressive.

awesome...I wish I could hear the "busy" version!!! The only time I was fortunate enough to see the Talking Heads was the "Burning Down the House:" tour as it was known...but they started out with David Byrne coming out with his guitar and a boom box and did "Psycho Killer" then Tina came out on bass....it was soooo cool

Some of these comments are insightful, and others are from obvious children. Music does not depend on being high or not being high...what matters is the quality of the music. After the mid 80's or so music stopped having an identity. Why?

I'll get right on it

Okay, I don't do drugs, never have... but this song pretty much fits my imagination of what it must be like....under the best circumstances. It's enough for me.

Under the best circumstances? No. Under the best circumstances a trip is more along the lines or pure enlightened love and joy. Not paranoia and confusion.

sorry, but it's more than just that...that's the good and bad mixed. Listen to the lyrics...or read them but you'll see the contradiction in them

A man freaking out while on drugs trying to convince his fellows that he's not loosing it.

Puh leaze....do you know how to interpret anything...besides the shape, size and color of your turds? Reality is for those who can't handle drugs and alcohol

The ending gets pretty trippy and menacing on this. What kind of drugs could those be? Maybe LSD? Well's that's not really important I guess, but I was just thinking. I've had that freaky/fearful sensation while drunk, though I've never done drugs.

I love it when people say "I drink, but I don't do drugs." I'm not anti-alcohol, I like to drink as much as the next guy, but just so you know, it's worse for your body, mind, and soul than most illegal drugs.

Alcohol is a drug.

sorry about your luck...I enjoy the LSD, shrooms, peyote, etc way more than the alcohol, but the alcohol is on every street corner

I read an interview with David Byrne many years ago - pre web - in which he stated that this song is not about drugs. I've wondered for years what the metaphor actually means.
