This song has a special meaning to me. I read that the song was about death but I think it is unrequited love. She is the free spirit not willing to commit. She cares for him but won't be his. I can see all the death reffered to. That is part of who Drake was.
I have always thought this song was from the point of view of someone who has died anticipating the visit to their grave by the object of their (unrequited?) love. Very moving anyway.

I think this song is about a casual relationship he became involved in shortly before his death, with the last few years at least. I believe she was a worldly, sexually experience gal, even a bit hard, but he liked her, cared for her, but did not love her. She knew of him and his music and was intrigued. She even desired sex from him, but Nick did not concede. Nick was a very romantic gentleman in my opinion and did not go out for casual sex. He "did" think about it though with this woman. He liked her enough to be at least slightly hurt if she was late or didn't show up when he thought she would.
My favourite song by him I think. It perhaps captures, not his intention given the timing, how fame and popular recognition was never achieved by him. Joey captures that unattained state.
