I love both this version and the Velvet Underground's original. In ways I like Kurt's even better though. It just has a little more feeling to it that gives the song a unique quality. Also, he sings the song with a lot of energy. I love the part of the song where he is screaming out the lyrics. I also believe this song is about sexual frustration.

This song was originally issued as a split single along with another Velvets' cover by the Melvins (''Venus in Furs'') in 1991, just before Nevermind. I've heard it described as a "seven-line thesis on the possibility that a girl might cum". (Nothing ground-breaking here.) It's impossible to say exactly what Cobain had going on in his head while he was singing but Lou Reed compositions can usually be taken at face value. Also, though the Nirvana boys do a typically great performance, this version somewhat lacks the humour and the knowing smirk of the original. P.S. Wow, I am the biggest nirvana and velvet underground fan and what makes this version good is that it is done in the classic nirvana style and not ust a lame attempt to imitate the original, which would have been impossible. To say one version is better than the other to me is crazy because there done in different styles. Though I still prefer the original (probably because I heard it before this version) I can still appreciate nirvana for doing an amazing cover
