Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.
Son you better be ready for love
On this glory day
This is your chance to believe
What I've got to say
Keep your eyes on the sky
Put a dollar in the kitty
Don't the moon look pretty
Tonight when I chase the dragon
The water may change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold
Time out of mind
I am holding the mystical stone
It's direct from Lasa
Where people are rolling in the snow
Far from the world we know
Children we have it right here
It's the light in my eyes
It's perfection and grace
It's the smile on my face
Tonight when I chase the dragon
The water may change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold
Time out of mind
Children we have it right here
It's the light in my eyes
It's perfection and grace
It's the smile on my face
Tonight when I chase the dragon
The water may change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold
Time out of mind
On this glory day
This is your chance to believe
What I've got to say
Keep your eyes on the sky
Put a dollar in the kitty
Don't the moon look pretty
Tonight when I chase the dragon

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Chasing the Dragon means actually shooting Heroin in your Veins. During the late 60's and early 70's many people had Dragon Tatoos on thier forearms. Chasing the Dragon means finding a vein to shoot the Heroin into. Water Turning to Cherry Wine means when the blood runs from thier veins after shooting up and they have to wash out the Vein and stop the bleeding. Siver turning to gold just means the Holucinizations they have during the trip. The light in my eyes means the look heroin addicts have when they are high. The smile on my face is the contentment they get from a succsessful. Ahh shooting for lack of a better word.
A few things, both Fagan and Becker were narcotic users but neither have had a dragon tattoo. Also, this song was written between 78-80 (I'm not really sure which year I just know those were the years that Gaucho was being recorded), not the late 60s or early 70s. I also, don't believe your explanation for chasing the dragon as it is commonly known that to "chase the dragon" is to smoke heroin. The only other explanation I found likely here was by aic22.

Your other interpretations of the song I also fear are wrong. The line "water may change to cherry wine" is simply a way of saying that once the user has "chased" that the miraculous (see John 2:1-11; AKA Jesus' first miracle) will happen; that things that are bland will turn to grand. Your explanation of "silver will turn to gold" as the visuals to a heroin nod (I thought "trip" was inappropriate to describe a heroin experience) shows you don't really know what heroin (and all other opiates for that matter) is about. The visuals produced from opiates comes only after heavy consumption and is marked by a silver lining and things seem to have a touch of gray (this is why I think "Touch of Gray" by the Dead is about Garcia's heroin addiction). This line is again just another way of saying that after "chasing" the user will experience miraculous changes in perception and feeling. "The light in my eye" is not at all about the look in a junked up person's eye. If you have ever seen anyone on a downer of any kind you will know there is absolutely no light in their eyes, especially someone on heroin. People who are high on heroin look like death. This line is saying that chasing the dragon is the light in his eye, or his reason to live or his inspiration to get him through the day.

Also, your spelling is horrendous.
