Hats Off To Larry Lyrics
Once I had a pretty girl, her name it doesnt matter
She went away with another guy, and now he wont even look at her
Hats off to Larry, He broke your heart
Just like you broke mine, when you said we'd never part
He told you lies, now its your turn to cry cry cry
Now that Larry said goodbye to you
I know this may sound strange
I want ya back I think you'll change
But theres one more thing I've got to say
Hats off to Larry, It may sound cruel
But you laughed at me when you said that we were through,
You told me lies, now its your turn to cry cry cry
Now that Larry said goodbye to you
Hats off to Larry, It may sound cruel
But you laughed at me when you said we were through
You told me lies now its your turn to cry cry cry
Now that Larry said goodbye to you
goodbye to you
goodbye to you
Hats off to larry
She went away with another guy, and now he wont even look at her
Just like you broke mine, when you said we'd never part
He told you lies, now its your turn to cry cry cry
Now that Larry said goodbye to you
I want ya back I think you'll change
But theres one more thing I've got to say
But you laughed at me when you said that we were through,
You told me lies, now its your turn to cry cry cry
Now that Larry said goodbye to you
But you laughed at me when you said we were through
You told me lies now its your turn to cry cry cry
Now that Larry said goodbye to you
goodbye to you
goodbye to you
Hats off to larry

This was originally written and performed by Del Shannon in about 1962. It was the follow-up song to Runaway.
@dbrahm Was released in 1961 ... but close enough :)

he he he...
Comes across as a song where a man was dumped by a girl (who laughed at him when doing it). So that man is now happy because "Larry" has now dumped that girl ... in a similar vain.
Bit of a reap what you sow (in regards to handling of relationships)
I wonder if this was based on a true story (by Del Shannon)?? Not mentioning the girls name in the song (and explicitly saying it doesn't matter at the start) makes me feel that this was a true story (or at least close too)
@sokorny I'm afraid we will never know, Del-RIP many years ago.
