I always thought he was saying "A world of violence"
It is obvious that he is describing a winter scene. Perhaps as an analogy. Davey doesn't really like to tell people what it meant to him because he doesnt want to crush their opinion. This happened to him and the Cure. This song is very well composed and jade proves once again what you can do with those Days of the Pheonix chords ;)

This song makes me think of solitude and looking for the one thing in life that will complete you. That it doesn't matter how beautiful something is, as long as you're still looking, everything is cold to you.
Of course, I tend to dream a bit...

I always thought he was saying violence as well, but look at the rest of the lyrics, wouldn't make much sense.
