I saw an episode of Mtv's 120 minutes back in the mid 90's hosted by Henry Rollins wherein he mentioned that Mike D was one of the best drummers he had ever seen. He played a lot of Beastie videos that night. It seemed obvious he was a fan. I'm gonna seek that out. I'd love to hear it.

This song is so awesome & different from anything else-it stands alone. It is it's own genre. Seriously! Name another song that has this much going on & still sound this good. Can't be done. There are a few unclassifiable songs on this album. Gratitude was one of the Beasties singles that didn't make it into the mainstream. If you wanted to see the video for this song you had to stay up late on a Sunday night & watch Mtv's 120 Minutes. And it was probably only played there a couple of times. Truly a forgotten single that never found it's audience. They should put it in that new Star Trek movie the way they used Sabotage in the first one! That would be pretty kick ass.
