Gonna Miss You Lyrics

Fresh faced, first taste,
you came and went,
A heaven spent,
Too fast to feel it go to waste.
Goodbyes, glassed eyes,
you ebbed your sleep,
A numb so deep,
To silence the war inside.

'Cos when it comes to dying,
I'm not frightened,
Been to hell and I've seen the truth.
So when it comes to dying,
I'm not lying,
I only know that this much is true,
I'm gonna miss you, I'm gonna miss you.

Day break, clean slate,
You dream and wish,
And make the switch,
There's always more to strip away.
Temptress, emptiness,
Filled it with love,
Then God above,
So this is who I am.
(This is who I am, gonna miss you,
This is who I am..... This is who I am, gonna
miss you, this is who I am.....)

But when it comes to dying,
I'm not frightened,
I've been to hell and I've seen the truth.
So when it comes to dying,
i'm not lying,
I only know that this much is true,
I'm gonna miss you,
I'm gonna miss you so,
I'm gonna miss you,
And the stars above.
And in the distance,
A reminiscence...

Face scarred, lungs tarred,
You're never wrong,
knew all along,
It's just alignment of the stars.
Handshakes, soul saved,
The answers came,
more of the same,
But still they fell away.

'Cos when it comes to dying,
I'm not frightened,
I've been to hell and I've seen the truth.
So when it comes to dying,
I'm not lying,
I only know that this much is true,
I'm gonna miss you,
I'm gonna miss you.

This song is about someone who's trying to find their place in life, but just can't seem to. It's about coming face to face with suicide and not being afraid of death, but being faced with the prospect of leaving someone special behind that you're going to miss. A lot of people would identify with these lyrics.

There might be mention of dying, but I'm not so sure it's about someone considering suicide.

To me, it's more about the end of a relationship. Coming through the other side of it, she's seen the best and the worst life has to offer; being together, and having it all end. Once she's been through that, there's nothing more to be scared of.
