Will You? Lyrics

You drink your coffee,
I sip my tea,
And we're sitting here, playing so cool,
Thinking, 'What will be, will be.'
And it's getting kind of late now,
Oh, I wonder if you'll stay now,
Stay now, stay now, stay now,
Or will you just politely say 'Goodnight'?

I move a little closer to you,
Not knowing quite what to do and I'm
Feeling all fingers and thumbs,
I spill my tea, oh silly me,
It's getting kind of late now,
I wonder if you'll stay now,
Stay now, stay now, stay now,
Or will you just politely say 'Goodnight'?

And then we touch, much too much,
This moment has been waiting for a long, long time,
Makes me shiver,
Makes me quiver,
This moment I am so unsure,
This moment I have waited for,
Well is it something you've been waiting for,
Waiting for too?

Take off your eyes,
Bare your soul,
Gather me to you and make me whole,
Tell me your secrets,
Sing me the song,
Sing it to me in the silent tongue.
It's getting kind of late now,
I wonder if you'll stay now,
Stay now, stay now, stay now,
Or will you just politely say 'Goodnight'?

Yes I agree - one of those songs which has the wonderful extended instrumental outro..

It means a great time as I just had the pleasure of being in our local choir and singing this live with Hazel - it was fantastic, though the sax solo wasn't a patch on the actual single release.

But what a great song eh? Will you? Will I? Such a good summary of that tipping point that we've probably all been at. No need to explain really, the song says it better than I ever could!

this is such a sexy song, so smooth. Definetly a song to listen to on a dark evening, it's raining outside, you've been for a romantic meal at a top restaurant with your girlfriend. You both go back to your place. You talk for hours, long into the early hours of the mourning. By now your both a little drunk from the red wine (coffee? tea? how very quaint), and your wondering where this is all going. ok that's never happened to me but eh i'm 16 there's time. Beautiful song. Wonderfully written.

What an honest song. "Feeling all fingers and thumbs, I spill my tea, oh silly me." Wondering what he wants to do. Will he stay, will he politely turn away? Then the powerful moment when "we touch" and it all happens and the sax plays on into the night. Really grabs you.

I thought that the song could be taken to also mean if there will be a reconcilation in a relationship over the scale of a lifetime.... are you staying out...etc, etc
