Faith Of The Heart Lyrics
It's been a long road
Getting’ from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near
And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothing's in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna hold me back
'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith, I’ve got faith, faith of the heart
It's been a long night
Trying to find my way
Been through the darkness
No I've finally had my day
And I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna change my mind
'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith, I’ve got faith, faith of the heart
I know that we're so cold
We've seen the darkest days
But now the winds I feel
Are only winds of change
I've been through the fire
I've been through the rain
But I'll be flying, oh yeah
'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith, I’ve got faith, faith of the heart
It's been a long road
Getting’ from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near
Nothing's in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna hold me back
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe

I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me

I've got faith, I’ve got faith, faith of the heart

I've got faith, I’ve got faith, faith of the heart

Well this song means a lot to me. Makes me think of my b/f. I never heard the song until he sent it to me. So its just means a lot to me.
The meaning of the song is right there in the lyrics: "I can do anything".
Yes, it's cheesy, but it's true enough. Faith in yourself is what really gets you where you want to be. Don't let them hold you down.
I very much wish they did not use this song as the theme song for Star Trek: Enterprise.
I disagree with Natasha. Humanity is striving to reach the stars and we will, because we "can do anything"; we have "faith of the heart" which is to say that it's vital for humanity's soul to strive for and to reach the planets, stars and to explore the galaxy. I think "Faith of the Heart" is a perfect fit for the TV series, "Star Trek: Enterprise." I watched all of the episodes and liked them very much. It will take many generations, but we will do it. On the way, we will eradicate human conflicts and establish a planetary government which will be converted into a "United Federation of Planets" in the future.
I agree with Natasha. Except Star Trek: Enterprise uses the version by Russell Watson, so she's off a little, but not by much.
Still, trying to shift my mental gears from Star Trek mode to a soft-rock concert holding a lighter over my head the first five minutes of every episode is like hearing fingernails on a chalkboard.
As far as the song itself goes, I don't get what "faith of the heart" means at all. I don't get what "faith of" anything means: you only have "faith in" something. Once you have "faith in" something, you then "have faith". You could have "faith from" an experience, but not really from a thing (like from the heart, say).
Given all of that, I think the song is just made up to use happy-feely words to invoke deep-sounding yet hollow ideas in conjunction with watching sunsets with your boyfriend at the beach.
Which doesn't really sync with sci-if, IMHO.
Sure, Star Trek Enterprise made the song far more popular than any single artist could have, and the song on its own isn't particularly outstanding. But, I do think it's perfect for this science fiction series. Captain Archer (fictional first captain of the starship Enterprise) harbored a lot of frustration over how the Vulcans purposely held back technological information that could have advanced human space exploration decades sooner than it did. Archer regrets that his father did not live long enough to realize his own dream of space exploration. In a way, he lives his own life in an effort to make up for what his father and his father's generation were denied. For better or for worse, the lyrics take you there. To "boldly go," is the crux of the entire series. This song serenades the dreams and the longings of humanity to explore and seek new lands. Is it not inherent in us all, "...going where my heart will take me. I can reach any star. I've got faith....faith of the heart "
