Too High Lyrics

Dodo do do do dodo
Do do dodo do dodo
Dodo dodo do do

Dodo do do do dodo
Do do do do dodo do
Dodo dodo dodo

I'm too high
I'm too high
But I ain't touched the sky

I'm too high
I'm too high
But I ain't touched the sky

She's a girl in a dream
She sees a four eyed cartoon monster on the T.V. screen
She takes another puff and says "It's a crazy scene"
That red is green
And she's a tangerine

I'm too high
I'm too high
But I ain't left the ground

I'm too high
I'm too high
I hope I never ever come down

She's the girl in her life
But her world's a superficial paradise
She had a chance to make it big more than once or twice
But no dice
She wasn't very nice

Ooh

Dodo do do do dodo
Do do dodo do dodo
Do do do do do do

Dodo do do do dodo
Do do dodo do dodo
Dodo dodo
Dodo dodo
Dodo dodo

I'm too high
I'm too high
I can't ever touch the sky

I'm too high
I'm so high
I feel like I'm about to die

She's a girl of the past
I guess that I got to her at last
A did you hear the news about the girl today
She passed away
What did her friend say

They said she's too high
Too high
Can't hang around anyway...

Dodo do do do dodo
Do do dodo do dodo
do...do...do...
do...do...do...
do...

Lyrically this is an extremely misinformed song. Stevie aims to give the listener the wildly incorrect impression that all (or the majority) of people who use an illegal drug end-up having their lives and their personality ruined by it. Even more misinformed is that it seems to focus on weed primarily

It's kind of hypocritical too when you consider how many musicians Stevie admired and covered used an illegal drug without incurring the kind of downfall that Stevie speaks of here e.g. Ray Charles, The Beatles, Bob Dylan

My Interpretation
Cover art for Too High lyrics by Stevie Wonder

This song tells of a young woman who had it going on so to speak, but her quest to get high turned into a quaqmire she never could excape from. This young lady had talent and could have made it big, but the song states she was not very nice. At the end of the song we find out that the lady this song speaks of died..."passed away". The melody is haunting and this is a song that stays with you long after you hear it. It is also a song that makes me sad everytime I hear it... Sad for the lady in question, and all people who cannot excape the clutch of drugs.

umm yea he's like high like u kno.. naa jp. i think he's actually explaining how drugs are fun or wuteva at first but eventually sukk and make u sukk.. the begining of the song he sings kinda in praise of the narcotic in question and by the end all the chiks friends dont even want her around anymore and furthermore , a key to my opinoin, is the line where he say she cant ever touch the sky, and he sings that line very angrily...
