I kinda loved this song since when I first heard it. It's about leaving things unfinished behind you. Kinda like running away for a job or something. And saying goodbye to someone u think u might love, but ur not sure its love. Its the best time you have with that person.

Too much nothing to share

thats the line of the song. When you have too much nothing to share with someone, thats the time ur enjoying someone's company. And now that ur leaving, all those possession are weighing hard on you.

I consider myself to be a serious Bread fan and have been for all of my life, and this is in my top two favorites of Bread. I saw Bread three times in concert and truly feel that if a person looks only at the long string of radio hits that Bread had, that you would almost certainly miss Too Much Love, which was basically an album song only, although I did hear this song on the radio, in Argentina of all places 45 years ago. I have always heard the saying that a person cannot be " too rich " and I guess that you can add that you can't have " Too Much Love " in your life, either. I read somewhere that James Griffin, the author of this song, offered to cut down the guitar solo at the start of the song, to make it more radio friendly, but was never given the opportunity to do so. Too bad, because this song is a pearl !
