i don't know what it is about this song, but despite it only being one and a half minutes long, it sticks in your brain. the tune is like brain syrup. beautiful. anyways, that's what i think...
I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure this song is about Billy Corgan's faith in Christianity, and how It doesn't match the life he lives as a rock star. It also talks about how we don't know for sure where we go after we pass away.
I've always liked the fact that Billy is a strong believer in having his songs be ambiguous. He even stated once in an interview that creating your own meaning behind a song is so much more appealing than hearing the meaning and it might not be what you thought it was going to be, you don't appreciate the song as much as you did before you knew the meaning. To me this is one of those songs that can mean so many things, pleasure in pain, could be about being something you're not, ect...
Best band, Best singer/songwriter
i remember i was crying (on account of a relationship) and this song came on...it fitted so perfectly with what i was thinking...that's my take on the song...of course, it's ambiguous.
i really wish it was longer...he could just sing the "and they all want you to change/where are we going" part over and over again for 10 minutes...it might be better than listening to all 13 songs on the album and just having the shortest track stuck in my head all night
I think its about him taking comfort in pain, maybe after going without any real pain for a while. Could have been after breaking up with his girlfriend, how he'd been happy when he was with her, but when they seperated he could feel sorry for himself again
