Mimi Lyrics

When I saw your eyes, I saw you Mimi
But I was brainless and I did what I could
Babies were flaming, I had to run ‘em down
But when I saw you Mimi, I had to get into you Mimi
I had to run ‘em down, oh Mimi
Well, I had to get into you Mimi
I had to run ‘em down, oh Mimi
I had to get into you

You’re eyes are my soul
You can turn lead into gold
I know I crossed the line
Mimi, I know you’re a goldmine

I was so lazy, all hands and fives
Those flaming babies came down from the sky
I couldn’t have save them
Mimi, don’t cry

When I saw you leaving me through that front window
My life flashed before my eyes
My life flashed before me eyes
Oh, Mimi

Your eyes are my soul
You can turn lead into gold
I know I crossed the line
Mimi, I know you’re a goldmine

I think this song is about how he knocked up his girl and she had an abortion, and that was hard.

From Seattle PI interview; “ I never understood the lyrics of “Mimi,” track four from the Long Winters first album – “I was so lazy, all hands and fives, those flaming babies came down from the sky.” Roderick explained, driving down a lonely Alaskan highway, a girl who he was dating blew into his ear. It was a curvy, mountainous road. Roderick swerved into the path of a school bus heading in the opposite direction. It was a near miss. The flaming babies line was what if the old Chrysler he was driving hit the school bus.”
