Mr. Moran Lyrics
I was under the boss when they made him
and I was made a short time after that
I was under oath when I testified
I’m under government protection
now they're calling me a rat
Mr. Moran, that’s who I am
some call me Sal, some call me Sam
some call me when they’re in a jam
’cause I’m the man, I’m Mr. Moran
I eat punks like you, I do for breakfast
you're just a bowl of cereal to me
I might be from deep in the heart of Texas
or maybe I’m from New York
make that Knoxville, Tennessee
Mr. Moran, that’s who I am…
they will motherfuck me in a heartbeat
but first they've got to find me to do that
I’ve been selling Ecstasy in Arizona
under government protection
now who’s a fuckin’ rat?
Mr. Moran…
and I was made a short time after that
I was under oath when I testified
I’m under government protection
now they're calling me a rat
Mr. Moran, that’s who I am
some call me Sal, some call me Sam
some call me when they’re in a jam
’cause I’m the man, I’m Mr. Moran
I eat punks like you, I do for breakfast
you're just a bowl of cereal to me
I might be from deep in the heart of Texas
or maybe I’m from New York
make that Knoxville, Tennessee
Mr. Moran, that’s who I am…
they will motherfuck me in a heartbeat
but first they've got to find me to do that
I’ve been selling Ecstasy in Arizona
under government protection
now who’s a fuckin’ rat?
Mr. Moran…

This is a very little known fact. I'm from Massachusetts, and at a prep school in MA, called St. John's Prep, there is a teacher there called Mr. Moran who went to school with Dicky Barrett. There's probably no connection. Just a very funny coincidence.
This song's probably about Bugs Moran the gangster from Prohibition-era Chicago.
On second thought, more likely it's about Salvatore Gravano, an underboss of the Gambino family in the early 90s.
The second one is correct.
He was placed in protective custody in Boston as Mr. Moran. A comman Irish name in boston.
-Make that witness protection, wrong term...

Hey Tonefan, didn't know that. Thanks for the info! I knew it was about Salvatore Gravano (as is obvious in the song), but I did not know where the "Mr. Moran" originated.
This is by far my fav. song of theirs.
