God Bless the U.S.A. Lyrics

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

I tryed all day on the 4th to add this song, and something was wrong and wasn't letting me add a new artist, but I finally got it added. I think that everyone knows the meaning of this song.

Army132: I appreciate your service to this country, but I think your hostility towards me based on my opinion of Mr. Greenwood and his song is misguided. As you are serving in the Army, I can trust that you are bright enough to notice the hypocrisy in Lee Greenwood's lyrics based on his actions during the Vietnam War.

Why do you suppose he sings that he would "gladly stand up next to you" when he didn't do so when he had that opportunity? Is he a liar?

You state, "I fight for you every day . so you suck...". Your service and whether or not I suck are in no way related. And, since you say you fight for me, I assume that you are not in Iraq, because as you know, Iraq never posed a danger to our country. If anyone, you should be fighting for your buddies. Keep each other safe.

Lee Greenwood stated:

"It angers me when I hear this. I never served in the military because I had children at the age of 17. I was given classification A3. The draft never got to that #. If it had, like my father, I would have left my wife and children to fight and die if necessary for my country."
