Minor Threat Lyrics

We're not the first
And I hope we're not the last
Well you know where we're headed
We're gonna crash
Why is it live
And it just belongs to us?
Why is everybody
In such a fucking rush?
Make do with what you got
Try not to forget
Weight of the world
We're just a minor threat

We're just a minor threat
We're just a minor threat
We're just a minor threat
We're just a minor threat

I was in the beginning
I was waiting to start
I might not get up
But I'm a minor heart
Duck down what's going down?
What's the fuckin' deal?
It's not who I am
It's not how I feel
Make do with what you got
Try not to forget
Weight of the world
We're just a minor threat

We're just a minor threat
We're just a minor threat
We're just a minor threat
We're just a minor threat
And that's a promise

It makes no sense for Sublime to have covered this song, and I've never actually heard them do it. I know the original version, by the band Minor Threat. In that case, the band faced some amount of protest against their music and message. They use a play on their own name to tell people to quit their damn bitching.

sublime covered this song live on WBCN radio station in boston. the DJ told everyone that they would play "date rape", but sublime is not going to be told what to play. so the DJ, Charles Lacquedera, says "Can you guys please play date rape now, please? I kinda promised them you would." and sublime says, "ok". then they cover this song. its actually quite brilliant. punk as fuck

Rubberband is incorrect in what he said. A long time ago, I had the entire WBCN interview on my hard drive, downloaded off of the now-defunct sublimearchive.com (this was many years ago). When the DJ asked if Sublime would play Date Rape, they do, in fact, play Date Rape (and, amusingly, self-edit the lyrics.) Later the DJ asks if they would play "one more" and that's when they played Minor Threat.

The MP3 you are hearing I have heard before, and between the DJ asking to play Date Rape and the colliding of the drum sticks, you can clearly here where the tape was "cut."

The funniest part is that Sublime self-edited themselves on Date Rape, but said "fucking" several times in the Minor Threat song. Afterwards, the DJ remarked that "He couldn't hear the singing but he could hear the instruments, and it sounded good." He emphasized the fact that he could not hear the singing, and this was an obvious lie. He was trying to protect his job and the station for Brad saying "fuck repeatedly." It is a fairly amusing bit and if you could find the interview it is definitely worth a listen.

By the way, there are a lot of lyrics wrong on this page.
