Kissing A Fool Lyrics
You are far,
When I could have been your star
You listened to people,
Who scared you to death, and from my heart
Strange that you were strong enough
To even make a start,
But you'll never find
Peace of mind
Til' you listen to your heart
People,
You can never change the way they feel
Better let them do just what they will
For they will,
If you let them
Steal your heart from you
People,
Will always make a lover feel a fool
But you knew I loved you,
We could have shown them all
We should have seen love through
Fooled me with the tears in your eyes
Covered me with kisses and lies
So goodbye
But please don't take my heart
You are far,
I'm never gonna be your star
I'll pick up the pieces
And mend my heart
Maybe I'll be strong enough,
I don't know where to start
But I'll never find
Peace of mind
While I listen to my heart
People,
You can never change the way they feel
Better let them do just what they will
For they will
If you let them
Steal your heart
And people,
Will always make a lover feel a fool
But you knew I loved you
We could have shown them all
But remember this
Every other kiss
That you ever give
Long as we both live
When you need the hand of another man,
One you really can surrender with,
I will wait for you,
Like I always do,
There's something there,
That can't compete with any other,
You are far,
When I could have been your star
You listened to people
Who scared you to death, and from my heart
Strange that I was wrong enough,
To think you'd love me too.
I guess you were kissing a fool,
You must have been kissing a fool.
When I could have been your star
You listened to people,
Who scared you to death, and from my heart
Strange that you were strong enough
To even make a start,
But you'll never find
Peace of mind
Til' you listen to your heart
You can never change the way they feel
Better let them do just what they will
For they will,
If you let them
Steal your heart from you
People,
Will always make a lover feel a fool
But you knew I loved you,

Peace of mind

I too think this is George's best song. A classic song of love that didn't work out, it really deserves a place among the great standards. I seriously wish I could play the piano like that.
This is George's best song, and it really shows off his talent as a singer/songwriter.
Unfortunately, the great love of my life could sing this song about me. I hope he will wait for me.
You can't go wrong with a George Michael ballad. Great song!
This is a really hard song to sing with all the highs and lows and minor keys. Anyway, I love this song. When I was going through breakup with a guy I played George's Ladies & Gentlemen album a lot so a lot of his songs from "For The Heart" mean a lot to me about that breakup - this one because I felt like i was a fool for letting him do the things he did with my head, and I felt HE was the fool for messing with me. But it didn't help me get over him because of the "But remember this..." section - "I will wait for you, like I always do, there's something there that can't compare..." etc - because if you feel sad about a breakup, not angry, you find it hard to move on. Sad times :(
I know how if feels like. Moving and touching song, and that part "But remember this..." makes me feel like the guy never quite close the door to that mistreating lover...which is what I've always done. And that's honestly self-destructive.
I think it is basically a man who fell in love with a woman and instead of her listening to her heart she listened to what everyone else was saying to her(making her feel like a fool and take her heart and scared her away). And she will never be at peace until she listens to her heart. As GM says things could have worked out if she had only listened and he lets her just remember that I'll always for you because she'll never find anyone like HIM or what they have.
"Kissing a Fool" is George Michael's best song by far. I'm learning to sing it (-2 steps). The Michael Buble version is OK, but GM's original is best. There are a number of very good covers on y**tube. See: Pedro Garcia, Sung Si Kyung, willboy024, John Jacques, Edyta Gorniak, ...
Obscurusvita above is partly wrong about the "woman" part above, since GM has been gay forever. I feel this song can apply to most any asymmetrical romantic breakup. I have been on both ends of breakups and really feel the pathos of this song.
In December 2011 GM contracted a very serious case of pneumonia in Vienna and was close to death. Fortunately, he seems to have come out alright, and we'll see him on tour again maybe in 2012.
around this time George was going out with a French guy called Tony, who although was sleeping and having sex with George, would not admit to being guy............George was totally in love with him
This is a song about a heartbreak, ego over love and the lonely soul that was unable to fight for the truth coming from his/her heart. Yet the singer stays as a constant lover, no matter what, because he acknowledges that his/ her love will continue despite betrayal, for this is how true love really works. the singer knows this is the price of love and accepts that the primary choice made him a fool after all, because he lost himself in the process, acquiring some deeper truth that needs no ego. He can be the fool, but the real one, is the one that was not true to himself/herself.
