Papa Gene's Blues Lyrics
he's one of those codependents who doesn't know who he is unless he's in a relationship
This is not one of the group's better-known efforts, but it's one of my most favoritest songs. Even though it's kinda cheesy in the way it's performed and is very bluegrassy, I think it's one of the sweetest, happiest songs I've ever heard. I plan on having it played at all of my weddings.
This song is amazing!!! :)
It's "Pick it, Luther" not "Pick up, losers."
It was a reference to Johnny Cash's lead guitarist Luther Perkins.
@mothballl Wrong! It's "Ah, pick it, Wilson!". A play on Wilson Pickett. Get it?
There's an "s" in there, if you can't hear the rest of it.
And, of course, the cut-and-paste internet idiots all follow one another......

The most amazing thing about this song to me is the fact that it came out when I was fifteen, and didn't actually listen to it or know the lyrics until a month ago when I tripped over it on Reddit! I've been seeing a woman that has turned out to be the one, after a lifetime of looking, and these lyrics just fit us perfectly! When, in your "older" age things seem to get a little materialistic, the words "I have no more than I did before, but now I have all that I need" strike home, and say it all. Thank you Michael Nesmith! And, I know that little wink at the end was acknowledgement of me and Andrea!
