Extracurricular Lyrics

nuisance
an actor choking on nectar
nothing gotten
narcoleptics will cut off these patients blue arms
peg legged
sullen
drool on these words I've never uttered
yes I swear

out stayed our welcome
a jab from behind
spoke on these crutches
you wouldn't mind
I had the rack ignored in your last implants

maiden winters
tickling whispers
sit still or you can`t just listen
extra extra extracurricular
determine if the wick can burn

acid
cracked ribs
timber
class dismissed

sutured
swollen
spiteful of these silent urns
yes I swear

legs cracked and head dressed
a jab from behind
a charlie-horse in stride
you wouldn't mind
bowlegged constriction on a saddle of hide

maiden winters
tickling whispers
sit still or you can`t just listen
extra extra extracurricular
determine if the wick can burn

the weak are supposed to die(x4)

and you cant see this lighthouse
cause there's no place to go
this siphon drinks the water
but it will never grow

This song puzzles me greatly. It is one of my favorites by the band, but it really leaves me wondering.

I do know if you read the lyrics like it were a story for a movie, it would make one sick horror film.

I've always hated guessing what i'm about to about songs cause it usually just seems too obvious, but considering the timing of this coming out right before they broke up seems to be something about how they, as a band, aren't going anywhere. He said that they were just going to make the same record over and over again and he was sick of it.

"I had the rack ignored in your last implants" Maybe meaning he ignored what he was putting into the effort of the last cd because he just didn't care anymore.

"and you cant see this lighthouse cause there's no place to go this siphon drinks the water but it will never grow"
It's too easy to think that this is about them being stuck in one place, musically.

i think it's about how the band didn't like people moshing at their shows; lines such as "sit still, or you just can't listen"..and i think that the "the weak are supposed to die" line could be from a mosher's point of view, and the first word is indeed nuisance, Cedric could be saying that the moshing kids are a nuisance. The "out stayed our welcome" could be about how moshing kids get mad that the band looks down on moshing. Just a guess, ATDI writes very vague lyrics, so i could be (and probably am) way off.

Ehh, I think this song has to do with getting back at people, like and "I stole your girlfirned, you screwed my mom thing", and then someone takes it too far? Idk, seems kinda trivial, but you never know.

when they performed this song live, they would always add the lines "i've seen this happen in other people's lives, and now it's happening in mine.i've seen this happen in other people's lives, and now it's happening in mine, happening in mine, happening in mine" from the smith's song "that joke isn't funny anymore". i get the feeling that this is just another song about loss of one kind or another, ot MrManInvisible could be right and those lines could just be applying to seeing other bands break up due to lack of new material.

funny about the "I've seen this happen..." lines,

they did the same thing with Catacombs too, and cedric also said "and that joke isn't funny anymore"

it sounds like he's saying "A charlie horse destroyed" on that line that wasn't determined. thats just my opinion
