Ok so this song is about a dude who parks his car on the train tracks where he expects his exes train to be travelling, to kill himself and potentially her.
Second verse is him waiting to go to heaven but he doesn’t want to go because he’s waiting for Megan before he enters heaven.
Last verse is him giving up and entering heaven without Megan.
It’s a pretty sad song but awesome too.

this is my favorite Smoking Popes song. I just love the "butter on a summer day when she's around" line. I think a lot of us can relate to this song. I know i've went somewhere because i had that feeling that a certain person would show up. It's the love of dreaming and you can't let that slip away. The feeling of being in love is like none other.
It's not that he went somewhere to see if the girl would show up, he wanted to kill himself by thowing himself in front of a train..twice! He was on the tracks when the gate came down to be taken back to her. This ain't a "sweet" song. It's suicidal.

Yeah its a shame these guys broke up. I was emailing the drummer back and forth when they were together and about to break up. He gave me the news before they went public. Anyway, this song is VERY sad and most likely about loneliness and wanting to die because of longing for a deceased loved one.
