Could you ever need me?
And would you know how? Yeah
Don't waste our time, tell me now

All you have to do
Is speak out my name, yeah
And I would come running any way

And I said
Could it be me?
Could it really, really be?
Over and over (ooh)
Could it really, really be?

Oh, over and over

Ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh

Oh I said
Could it be me?
Could it really, really be?
Over and over (ooh)
Could it really, really be?

Don't turn me away
And don't let me down, yeah
What can I do
To keep you around? (Ooh)

Over and over
Over and over (ooh, ooh)
Over and over

Over and over (ooh, ooh)
Over and over
Over and over

Over and over (ooh, ooh)

this is such a great song, so tight, direct, beautyful and simple. christine mcvie is the one of the most underrated songwriters ever, a real talent...the meaning of the song is pretty clear, when you're not pretty shure, about how the one you love really feel about you..

Loyalty is described here. The singer writer has more of it for a friend or lover than I do usually. Ah, but my children!! "If you ever need me [if pride would allow] and would you know how, don't waste our time, tell me now" Learning to interact as adult-to-adult instead of parent-to-child can be difficult. All you have to do is call and I will come running, grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your life. A young person commits one of the cruelest acts by withholding themselves from a parent (if a healthy relationship with that parent is possible). Whether simply moving away, or maybe running away, the parent imagines the return of their loved kiddo: "And I would say could it be me, could it really really be me, over and over." "Don't turn me away or let me down. [And desperately:] What can I do to keep you around!??!"
