The Missing Lyrics
Hey god told us that we made
a very big sin
You dont know where
to begin
He says turn the other cheek
but that seems kind of weak
I just wanna beat up
beat up the meek
He says you be a better man
if you'd stick with the plan
But i dont think i can
not with that kind of man
You love to be cruel
You love to be cruel
I'm not a good tool
Cause you love to be cruel
What now?
The cross has been greased
but i dont feel the heat
nor the peace in the street
everybody feels it
So just bury it in the pit
with the best of the sick
idiological shit
You love to be cruel
You love to be cruel
I'm not a good tool
Cause you love to be cruel
You love to be cruel
You love to be cruel
You love to be cruel
You love to be cruel
a very big sin
You dont know where
to begin
but that seems kind of weak
I just wanna beat up
beat up the meek
if you'd stick with the plan
But i dont think i can
not with that kind of man
You love to be cruel
I'm not a good tool
Cause you love to be cruel
The cross has been greased
but i dont feel the heat
nor the peace in the street
everybody feels it
So just bury it in the pit
with the best of the sick
idiological shit
You love to be cruel
I'm not a good tool
Cause you love to be cruel
You love to be cruel
You love to be cruel
You love to be cruel

I love this song.... this song has feeling
sounds like he's angry at god and doesn't understand religion. they made that very clear in short bus, anyway, so this one is just more metaphoric.
I remember Richerd saying it was about 9/11 and how one can't sometimes feel G-d in such a tragedy.
wow, that's really interesting. i'm still confused about "what now? the cross has been greased" part.
he's talking about lighting the cross on fire. "but I don't feel the heat" means he doesn't really care.

Definately about Religion. I am an ex-JW and can relate my experiences in the religion to this song. One of my favorite Filter songs to date.
"What now? The cross has been greased" - Greased, as in, prepared (like a tray for cooking), for Jesus' sacrifice (a la roasting). Basically this line seems to be saying that even though Jesus supposedly sacrificed himself for the greater good of humanity...Richard Patrick does not seem that greater good manifesting itself in the current situation of the world, especially post 9/11. Hence, God must "love to be cruel."
