Never Going Back Again Lyrics
She broke down and let me in
Made me see where I've been
Been down one time
Been down two times
I'm never going back again
You don't know what it means to win
Come down and see me again
Been down one time
Been down two times
I'm never going back again
Made me see where I've been
Been down two times
I'm never going back again
Come down and see me again
Been down two times
I'm never going back again

This song's written about Lindsey Buckingham finally finding love after Stevie Nicks. He's okay now. He's never going back again.
i think that you're probably right about what this song means but it also reminds me of addiction

This song makes me happy. To me it means that he has been down, a few times..but he's making a point not to make the same mistakes or let anything get the best of him the same way again. The music is so beautiful.

I want to present a totally metaphoric interpretation into this comment section one that is unique to my experience here:
"She broke down and let me in, made me see where I've been" - As i plead with my soul and sacrifice the I she let inside, I was able to travel. "Showed me where I'd been" - The body was just a vessel and the illusion was lifted. "Been down one time, been down two time, never going back again" "Where i was, was the All, that peace within, Ive been back to reality and every time I never want to leave." "You dont know what it means to win, Come down and see me again" "She has her own priorities, like I, in this existence and she says it is time to return. Please come back and raise me up?"
Chorus again wishing that he was able to travel at will and if he could possibly remain and never give into/return to the illusionary world again.
"This song has incredible usage of finger picking. I love this song. I think it is one of the most intricate acoustic ones out there...Coolness"
Big Love live is way more intricate. This is still awesome tho.
I think it's a very direct meaning: this guy got caught cheating. He's habitual, though. His woman made him say where he's been, and he replied "I've done it once...OK, maybe twice, but I'll never do it again" and then he does it again.
"habitual" - great word to describe him.

I'm not sure about the meaning for the band members, but this is my interpretation.
She broke down and let me in Made me see where I've been (The person is/was in a relationship with this girl that let him in. She wanted to know what he has been doing. She broke down as in he continually asked for forgiveness, and she is going to talk with him again.)
Been down one time Been down two times I'm never going back again (This is him saying that he has pretty much cheated on her, or after they broke up he was with people that he did not want to be with. Telling his relationships he had on the side or after they broke up.)
You don't know what it means to win Come down and see me again (Here she is still hurt and playing games with him possibly. He tells her pretty much that she has won, I'm coming back to you; let me inside so we can talk.)
Been down one time Been down two times I'm never going back again
This song is really great. It has two meanings to me.
1) He cheated on her, and she still is accepting him back. 2) They broke up and he is coming to get back together after he has been with other people.

i just found this song out. it is simply amazing. simple is the key word. all about the music. i cant stop listening to it.
This track is perfect, the use of the acoustic is, well, brilliant, the little instrumental break in the middle is my favourate bit, and the harmonised vocals with the guitar. Shame its so short, really, but that would spoil it.
