I don't see deeper meanings than a guy, living in karakatu, Alaska.
I guess this guy is a white guy fantasizing about warmer weather. All the locals think he is an idiot for staying but for some reason he stays. We all have fantasies about doing something that would make more sense or just out of reach...but we don't do it and just stay stuck.
