Family Man Lyrics

Walk down this road
When the road gets rough
I fall down
I get up

I am what I am...
A family man
I am what I am...
A family man
Mother... father... brother...
Mother... father... brother...

Walk down this road
In the cool of the night
Don't know what's wrong
But I do know what's right

I am what I am...
A family man
I am what I am...
A family man
Mother... father... brother...
Mother... father... brother...

I am what I am...
A family man
I am what I am...
A family man
Mother... father... brother...
Mother... father... brother...

The lyrics of the song don't say much but the musical arrangement just feels like cocaine, the contrast between the music and the text does the work for me

My Opinion

I’ve always thought the meaning behind this song that that whoever’s singing has no family or close friends and therefore has to be self sufficient and keep his emotional troubles to himself. As a “family man” he must take on the role of a whole family and deal with his problems alone.

I don't think Lindsey had a child quite yet when this was written. It was on the 1987 Tango in the NIght album and also on their compilation album The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac. This song is perfectly fine to skip, it's annoying.

@stoolhardy it slightly annoying...

I love this song. However, whenever I recommend it to anyone, they end up disliking it.

The song is about being devoted to and taking responsibility for your family.
