Dangerous Type Lyrics

can I touch you, are you out of touch
I guess I never noticed that much
geranium lover, I'm live on your wire
oo come and take me whoever you are

she's a lot like you
the dangerous type
she's a lot like you
come on and hold me tight

oo inside angel, always upset
keeps on forgettin' that we ever met
can I bring you out in the light
my curiosity's got me tonight

she's a lot like you
the dangerous type
oo she's a lot like you
come on and hold me tight

museum directors with high shaking heads
they kick white shadows until they play dead
they want to crack your crossword smile
oo can I take you out for awhile, yeah

she's a lot like you
the dangerous type
she's a lot like you
come on and hold me tight
she's a lot like you
the dangerous type
she's a lot like you
come on and hold me tight
tonight

she's a lot like you
the dangerous type
she's a lot like you
come on and hold me tight
tonight

she's a lot like you
the dangerous type, alright
she's a lot like you
come on and hold me tight
(tonight) tonight

she's a lot like you
the dangerous type
tonight
she's a lot like you
come on and hold me tight
tonight

she's a lot like you
the dangerous type
she's a lot like you
tonight

she's a lot like you
the dangerous type
she's a lot like you
come on hold me tight
tonight

she's a lot like you
the dangerous type
she's a lot like you
come on hold me tight
tonight

she's a lot like you
the dangerous type
she's a lot like you

Cover art for Dangerous Type lyrics by Cars, The

It brings to mind someone looking at a beautiful woman's portrait in a museum and relating the 'do not touch' sign to some of the girls who can't be dated due to their high influential fathers. You never notice the do not touch signs but just abide by them. The museum directors can be meant twofold: One, as a literal curator and two, as the deep pockets dad that wants to keep things old school (she can only date those in her income bracket and above) and will break your 'crossword' smile (foul mouth). Just sayin.

My Interpretation

Some of the lines have GOT to be referring to the Mona Lisa!

But of course, what makes it brilliant is that it has more than one meaning. Haven't we all been interested in some enigmatic female that we can't quite figure out?

I think the song has a couple meanings. It's obvisously about a girl that he likes. She could be dangerous because he's dangerous and shes like him. Or she could literally be dangerous, the psycho type that wants to hurt his heart by playing games with him. She doesn't seem interested in him and it could be dangerous for him because she might break his heart. There are many meanings for this song.

@TENXNEWECO Indeed, but further. For it's a Compliment she's a 'Dangerous Type' that worth the Loving like him (the guy). But it's ALL Love.

This song may well be the best track off the album, along with Candy-O and Let's Go. The lyrics were occasionally non-sensical, but then that was normal for the Cars; the usual double-entendre was ever-present, and really, all that was good about the band is displayed nicely in this song.

i think it's about a girl whos playing hard to get, and the guy is falling for it hard.

My take on it is that the guy realizes what's at stake for both people in love. Usually all people think about is themselves, and avoiding getting hurt. "She's a lot like you, the dangerous type" Love is the greatest reward, but yet also the greatest risk of getting hurt. We don't see ourselves as the perpetrator, although we have all hurt someone, maybe without realizing it.
Everyone is afraid of getting hurt, getting played, getting used. Some of the most dangerous ones are the ones who have been hurt, because they heal only by passing it on. It's a great message about making sure you are ready to commit or not, and watch out for hurting someone, as well as watch your own back. I have had the wrath against me. It's gotten to the point of me being more afraid of pissing off a woman off than getting hurt. In my experience, the ones that have been hurt are the dangerous type, not the ones who you think might use you. "She's a lot like you" is you.

Never read the lyrics till today however, the only words that matter are, "She's a lot like you,. ..the dangerous type". This is a clear warning, it cannot be misinterpreted. Yet millions do. Bandleader Ric married a virgin Slavic super-model as an example! NEVER marry a girl who's just like you,. the drinking, partying, gun-slinging dangerous type.
