Ladies' Nite In Buffalo? Lyrics
Talk about the high cost of lovin'
I think I hear freedom drummin' it seems
Give me your heart
And I'll give you the stars
"Yeah right," she says
"Maybe in your dreams"
Heat wave blast,
Kids are screamin'
Pavement's hot
The sidewalk's steamin'
Only me, happens every time
Thinkin' 'bout you and me
Hello, good-bye
Jazz it up or play it slow
It's still the only song I know
It's 2 a.m. and traffic's slow
Another ladies' night in Buffalo
I was list'nin' to the DJ sayin'
"Put that storm behind"
Well, the winds can blow
Bad or better
I don't mind some
Stormy weather tonight, no
I can feel it
The heat wave blast,
Kids are screamin'
Pavement's hot
The sidewalk's steamin'
Only me, happens every time
Thinkin' 'bout you and me
Hello, good-bye
Put the top down
Hit the road
Sing the only song we know
It's 2 a.m. the traffic's slow
It looks like ladies' night in Buffalo
Yeah, I got kind of a sense of deja vu
I could swear I've seen you somewhere before
You don't think you ever seen me somewhere before
Do you, huh?
Must have been two other people
I know days are safe
I didn't want to have a fight
It's too far to drive back, baby
I wanna drive her home tonight
You can jazz it up or play it slow
It's still the only song I know
It's 2 a.m. and traffic's slow
Another ladies' night in Buffalo
Well it ain't much all right I know
But it's the only song I know
2 a.m. and traffic's slow
Another ladies' night in Buffalo
This must be ladies' night in Buffalo
I think I hear freedom drummin' it seems
Give me your heart
And I'll give you the stars

It's about a guy who feels he was lulled into marriage with the promise of the stars but feels like his partner let down their end of the bargain. He's got his kids in the background and responsibilities but despite how much trouble he could get into (heat/sidewalk steaming = too hot/risky to go wandering) he's reconsidering his relationship. He's been out on the prowl before and all the songs he listens to reinforce his wandering narrative.
The guy ends up in a bar on ladies night where he trots out the same old cliche pick up lines at a lady/potential lover who like him is a frequent visitor to the bar and who is also in pursuit of a shallow hook-up.
