Radio Ga Ga Lyrics
I'd sit alone and watch your light
My only friend through teenage nights
And everything I had to know
I heard it on my radio
You gave them all those old time stars
Through wars of worlds - invaded by Mars
You made em laugh, you made em cry
You made us feel like we could fly
Radio
So don't become some background noise
A backdrop for the girls and boys
Who just don't know or just don't care
And just complain when you're not there
You had your time, you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo, Radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio, what's new?
Radio, someone still loves you!
We watch the shows-we watch the stars
On videos for hours and hours
We hardly need to use our ears
How music changes through the years
Let's hope you never leave old friend
Like all good things on you we depend
So stick around cos we might miss you
When we grow tired of all this visual
You had your time - you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio - Radio
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo, radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo, Radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio, what's new?
Someone still loves you!
Radio Ga Ga (3 times)
You had your time - you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour

i believe that this song has soething to do with interpretations, in that music videos dont give us the ability like the radio does to interprete songs our own way-songs mean many things to different people regardless what they were specifically written about- just my opinion...
It´s about that people don´t concentrate on the music as much as before because the videos.
On videos for hours and hours We hardly need to use our ears How music changes through the years
you have listen to the music
@TheOlsna I agree ref 'people no long need use their ears' , Queen is showing their disapproval of videos being used to sell the song and that people don't listen to the lyrics as they should. Queen is blaming radio hence radio gaga radio googoo in that there is too much chatter on the airwaves and too many ads. The song is similar to Buggles, 'video killed the radio star'. Contradictory, I don't think it is videos is blame for people falling out with radio. Maybe it's because you can't say anything incase you may offend someone, so DJ's had become...

roger taylor wrote this song cos he heard his kid say radio ga ga. so stubbed you out
I know this is totally irrelavent (almost) but recently Electric Six did a version of this song and as well as covering it really badly, the video is really offensive towards Queen... grrrr..... >:(
@RandomDudette you commented this 3 days before i was born lol. also your kinda cringe

Queen Fan No1 - Roger's son actually said "Radio poo poo" and Roger altered it Radio Ga Ga.
RandomDudette - I agree with you. Electric 6's cover is as blasphemous and pointless as those has-beens Metallica's cover of Stone Cold Crazy.
Arianrhod - Brian even said in an interview it's about man vs. the machines. The video gives several hints to this, the main one using images from Metropolis, the movie in which the city is controlled by one female robot.

Well, Lady Gaga actually got her name from this song. So I suppose even the worst of talents are still able to acknowledge and admire the genious of true musicians such as Queen.
I wish I could have seen them live. I love this song.
@peytonlovesthewho I knew of Lady Gaga first and now the pleasure of Queen. I can't believe you would sideways imply that Lady Gaga is a "worst of talents". Perhaps not your forte I understand...but play nice you sound like an ass. :)

Lady Gaga took her nom de plume from this. I recall it being on the re-release and restored version "Metropolis" soundtrack. And it's a great song. :)
The difference between telling people what to think, and spurring their imagination.
i think the point of the chorus is that radio is (was) still in its infancy...
I disagree - I think the point of this song is that despite video and all the other junk coming along, radio will still be the original form of live media. This part is why I think that:
"We watch the shows-we watch the stars On videos for hours and hours We hardly need to use our ears How music changes through the years Let's hope you never leave old friend Like all good things on you we depend So stick around cos we might miss you When we grow tired of all this visual You had your time - you had the power You've yet to have your finest hour"
The other reason I think this is because of the song's use in the musical We Will Rock You. I've recently spent 5 months being involved with the musical, so I feel that I'm qualified to comment as such.
