The more I see
The less I know
About all the things I thought were wrong or right
& carved in stone

So, don't ask me about
War, Religion, or God
Love, Sex, or Death
Because....

Everybody knows what's going wrong with the world
But I don't even know what's going on in myself.

You've gotta work out your own salvation.
With no explanation to this Earth we fall
On hands & knees we crawl
And we look up to the stars
And we reach out & pray
To a deaf, dumb & blind God who never explains.

Every body knows what's going wrong with the world
But I don't even know what's going on in myself.

Lord, I've been here for so long
I can feel it coming down on me
I'm just a slow emotion replay of somebody I used to be.

    My Opinion

I think it's about a person that used to feel he had opinions about stuff and ideals he followed. As time goes by, however, he gains experience and discover that the subjects he thought he knew all about weren't divided in black and white but rather different shades of gray. He also starts to question things, but without getting answers. He find out that the more you have seen and the longer you've been around, the harder it gets to oppose to or believe in anything. Because of this, he now lacks motivation or trust in anything.

    My Interpretation

I know its maybe far-fetched, but the line "I am just a slow emotion replay of somebody I used to be" kind of connects me to psycho dynamic theories that say that you personality is shaped by conflicts and dramas that occurs in your childhood and adolescence and - as an adult, you just re-experience these emotional dramas, only in slow motion as you progress through life events.

The narrator's life has crashed and he has lost his faith in everything. This unraveling makes him see himself as a poor replication of his former self.

Well, its hard to agree, especially when youve seen the video

I think its a song about a perfect state of mind which means "freedom of knowledge". Nothing distorts the way you see the world - you just see things but you dont judge them, dont label them, dont classify them. And, as a result, there is nothing you can know for sure and it`s hard to give any answer on the questions.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
