I Wanna Buy You A Ring Lyrics

i'm alone agian
and i'm thinking about what i shouldn't think about agian
I'm trapped and dizzy, i'm spinning and spiraling down
now i'm in love agian and it feels so good
it feels like nothing ever felt before
it's a song i wrote it about you, i love you
see i told you i was good
but this is nothing like i thought it would be,
i'm scared all the time, i'm afraid i'm going to hurt you
i've gotta pay some how, but it couldn't happen to me now.
run away with me, my lover, run away with me.
i wanna let the world know..

i wanna buy you a ring.
maybe i'll make it myself
do you like rubies and diamonds and emeralds and gold and silver?
i wanna build you a mansion
maybe we'll live in a castle with servants and a pool.

what a sorry song, what a stupid idea
i write the songs that make the whole world think about absolutley nothing
i believe, i don't believe, i don't think believe
it's strong enough, it's bandwagon jargon, it's hip, just do it, but don't do it halfway.
if you put down your loaded gun,
put down your bow and arrow too.
and i wanna be in fifth grade agian, i wanna worry about poison ivy, i wanna worry about getting beat up after school
i wanna send you a note

i wanna buy you a ring
maybe i'll make it myself
do you like rubies and diamonds and emeralds and gold and silver?
i wanna build you a mansion
maybe we'll live in a castle with servants and a pool.

and we won't hafto think about dying, because dying won't exist anymore
and we'll be able to fly, and we won't let anyone use the pool.

I wanna buy you a ring
maybe i'll make it myself
i wanna build you a mansion
maybe we'll live in a castle with servants and a pool.

Cover art for I Wanna Buy You A Ring lyrics by Huffamoose

This song expresses the dilemma faced by a person who is in love but simultaneously terrified by the consequences that come from being an adult (i.e. marriage, etc.). Though it's a love song, it's more about the person's anxiety over his life moving from one phase to another. Though he makes it very clear that he's in love with the subject of the song, he also finds no peace in this realization ("This is nothing like I thought it would be") and continually invents more ridiculous, childish fantasies for himself and his lover to hide from the direction he eventually needs to take with his life.
