F.Y.R. Lyrics

ten short years of progressive change
fifty fucking years of calling us names
can we trade title nine for an end to hate crime?
ru-486 if we suck your fucking dick?
one step forward, five steps back
one cool record in the year of rock-rap
yeah we got all the power getting stabbed in the shower
and we got equal rights on ladies night

feminists we're calling you
please report to the front desk
let's name this phenomenon
its to dumb to bring us down
F.Y.R. fifty years of rudicule
F.Y.R. take another picture

mrs. doubtfire on mothers day
on-the-job stalker for equal pay
toss us a few new AIDS drugs as mational healthcare bites ths dust
while you were on vacation black people didn't get reparations
you know these days no one's exploited
sorry dude can't hear you with my head in the toilet

feminists we're calling you
please report to the front desk
let's name this phenomenon
its to dumb to bring us down
F.Y.R. fifty years of rudicule
F.Y.R. take another picture

you've really come a long way baby
its you, not the world
thats totally crazy
cuz we really rocked the vote with election fraud in poor zip codes
celebrate gay marriage in vermont by enforcing those old sodomy laws
one step forward, five steps back
we tell the truth they turn up the laugh track

feminists we're calling you
please report to the front desk
let's name this phenomenon
its to dumb to bring us down

Obviously this song is about women rising up and women refusing to be lower then men, also i think its highlights laws made by stupid straight men i.e. "celebrate gay marriage in vermont by enforcing those old sodomy laws"

This is one of my absolute favorite Le Tigre songs. The whole reference to Title 9 and RU-486 blew me away, especially since only days before I heard this song, I was reading an article on RU-486. This song is a straight out call for feminists to unite and fight the bullshit.

Sugarless mop, YES! I almost cried during this song and all our fists we're up in the air along with Kathleen, Jo, and JD. Totally inspiring and beautiful.

what is the clip at the end? where is it from? 'i had a friend who did that...' etc?

Watch 30 Rock, "The Tuxedo Begins."

Or read Tina Fey's: "Let me clarify. I have observed that women, at least in comedy, are labeled 'crazy' after a certain age...known older men in comedy who can barely feed and clean themselves, and they still work. The women, though, they’re all “crazy.” I have a suspicion–and hear me out, ’cause this is a rough one–I have a suspicion that the definition of “crazy” in show business is a woman who keeps talking even after no one wants to fuck her anymore. I love this song. I thinks it's about how society says that women and not just women but other minority or oppressed groups have it all good now and have equal rights and make fun of them if they say that they don't but it's really just a facade or tokenism coz there are still issues regarding equality for them that are laughed at are or are ignored and this song is calling for them to unite and not stand for it and let them know that they won't stand for it.
