"Dust In The Wind" as written by and Kerry A Livgren....
I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind

Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Oh, ho, ho

Now, don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
The wind

General CommentThis is a reflection of human understanding apart from God.
If we don't realize that we are created beings, created for a purpose, then we have no hope and the thought of being dust in the wind is depressing. That is so because our Creator has set "eternity in the human heart" (Ecclesiates 3:11). The writer of Ecclesiates had the same frustration when he wrote (Ecclesiates 1:2) "all is meaningless".
The song should give pause and trigger that thought of eternity. Why are we aware of it if we cannot aspire to it? Therein begins one's search for the God who "made the world and everything in it [and] is the Lord of heaven and earth". And He is not far from any of us.
