I Fought the Law (Dead Kennedys cover) Lyrics

Drinkin’ beer in the hot sun
I fought the law and I won
I needed sex and I got mine
I fought the law and I won
The law don’t mean shit if you’ve got the right friends
That’s how the country’s run
Twinkies are the best friend I’ve ever had
I fought the law
And I won
I blew George & Harvey’s brains out with my six-gun
I fought the law and I won
Gonna write my book and make a million
I fought the law and I won
I’m the new folk hero of the Ku Klux Klan
My cop friends think that’s fine
You can get away with murder if you’ve got a badge
I fought the law
And I won
I am the law
So I won

(i think...cuz this is the dead kennedys song, but its hard to make out wut these chicks are sayin)

It was orignally a Clash song named "I fought the law (and the law won)". DK covered it and changed the lyrics around.

i'm pretty sure the original was by johnny cash, but i could be wrong....and thug murder are a great band, too bad more of their lyrics aren't up....i guess no one can understand what they are saying! haha.

and those lyrics are all wrong...the law won, so thug murder was breaking rocks in the hot sun, not drinking beer.

No, MeganB, YOU'RE wrong, it is "I fought the law and I won" not to be confused with "I fought the law and the law won", this is actually a Cover of a Cover, the song "I fought the law and the law won" was originally written by the Bobby Fuller Four, the Clash later covered it with immense success like Oooska said, and then the Dead Kennedys covered the song..But changed the lyrics around, the DK song is about a politician who murdered the openly gay Mayor of San Francisco and another person ( Hence, I blew Harvey & George out with my six-gun ), and got away with only 6 years in prison, his defense was that he went temporarily insane from eating too many Twinkies...When the cops heard of the murder, they cheered and clapped and supported him, anyway..I just wanted to get things straight - the lyrics are correct.

Actually it was the Mayor of San Francisco (George Mascone), who was not gay, and Harvey Milk, who was the first openly gay man elected to public office (city supervisor).

joining this 12 years late but thug murder are breaking rocks (like the clash) the dead kennedys drink beer. The title says this is the thug murder song so the lyrics uptop are wrong. the bit in brackets about being a dead kennedys cover is just plain misleading.
