Rock Star (Alternate Version) Lyrics

When I went to school in Olympia
And everyone's the same
What do you do with a revolution
You just forget your name
When I went to school in a fascist state
And everyone's the same
They call it punk rock and we got it great
What am I supposed to say
Won't you please
Make me real, fuck you
Make me sick, fuck you
Make me punk, fuck you
When I went to school in Olympia
Everyone's the same
From parasites to psychopath
Oh God, just please forget my name
When I went to school in a fascist state (Olympia)
What am I supposed to say
We got a little revolution
And we won't forget our name
Fuck you
Make me real, fuck you
Make me sick, fuck you
Make me punk, fuck you
Do it for the kids
When I went to school in Olympia

Isn't this song about riot grrls?

Well, to me it seems to be about riotgrrrls - especially since the movement pretty much began in Olympia. But I think it can be applied to a lot of situations, such as literally going to a school where everyone is the same.

yeh its probably about how everyones the same etc following crowds.

about the riot grrl thing, i remeber reading about how courtney love and robin barbur etc were getting frustrated about how the kinder - whore look(ages ago before hole got properly famous) associated with riot girls was becoming too sold out and fake, with young girls riting slut and whore over them without realsing the irony.

i think its the same concept as "school" by nirvana, i think she was inspired by a lot of kurts songs. its not a literal school, its just the music scene she belongs to where you have to look and play like everyone else or they wont accept you. in "school" kurt says "youre in high school again", its like hes saying he just got out of high school where no one accepted him and now its exactly the same even though hes a rock star. and thats what courtneys saying in this song i think
