Spit To See The Shine Lyrics
Grandma´s patch stole a hen party chicken scratch
See how your garden grows
Get a thread and amend us both please
This I know
Grandma´s girl is coming down
To steal violets from your crown
And glue them to her wrist
You have to spit to see the shine
Grandma´s girl is coming down
To steal violets from your crown
And glue them to her wrist
Hey, Jack, stab ´em in the back
Catholic black
You´re so serious
You have to spit to see the shine
Stab 'em in the back, Jack
You're a writer
You better write quick 'cause
Your paper's on fire
You have to spit to see the shine
Take a lathe and scrape all the glitter off
My blue glitter angel
See how your garden grows
Get a thread and amend us both please
This I know
To steal violets from your crown
And glue them to her wrist
To steal violets from your crown
And glue them to her wrist
Catholic black
You´re so serious
You're a writer
You better write quick 'cause
Your paper's on fire
My blue glitter angel

Kat went into pretty good detail about the meaning in an interview. I also think about the line “grandma’s girl is coming down stealing violets from your crown glue them to her wrist.” Violets often represent purity and or innocence so maybe the ‘grandmas girl’ is trying to appear pure after something changed or an incident happened and maybe using those who appear perfect to help her seem like she is also pure hence “stealing violets from your crown glue them to her wrist”?
