Side by side
I'll be yours forever
Yes I will
Rain or shine
Any kind of weather
Any kind
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
Let's take what's getting old and make it new
Eye to eye
It's a blinding confrontation
I said you and I
are a deadly combination
So don't start mixing truth with jealousy
The road we're on is clear as far as I can see
Pamela
Don't break this heart of mine
Just remember it may not heal this time
Pamela
There is no second chance
For the one who leaves it all behind
Black and white
Always go together
And on day and night
You're the precious jewel I treasure
Wanting every part of you is not a crime
Could it be that you're the one who's wrong this time
Pamela
Don't break this heart of mine
Just remember it may not heal this time
Pamela
There is no second second chance
For the one who leaves it all behind
Leave all
Oh Pamela
Thousands of miles away but always in my heart
Pamela
So don't break this heart of mine
Just remember it may not heal this time
Pamela
There is no second chance
For the one who leaves it all behind
Pamela
Don't break this heart of mine
Just remember it may not heal this time
Pamela
There is no second chance
For the one who leaves it all
Leave all beind
I still love you little girl
I still love you
And you know it little Pamela
I still love you yes I do
And you know it little Pamela
Come on

The song is about a real Pamela, which is Joseph Williams ex-girlfriend. He wrote this song about her. :( Well, it's a one of my favorite Toto songs.
1OOOs of miles away but always in my heart...
Oh man! Did this song ever fit my life when it came out. I was going crazy over an unrequited love interest who happened to be named Pamela. We were only separated by three years in age, but were looking for different things, each with good reasons. Getting to the song, I think this is pretty much straightforward; he wants the relationship to be more than she does, feels much more than she does, what I DON'T get is how he seems to be implying that she's jealous...if anything, I think he is (rightfully) jealous of her. She seems to not want anything serious between them, he's saying "wanting EVERY PART OF YOU is not a crime." Well, that's just MHO of what this song means, of course it was greatly influenced by what was happening to me at the time. Mary's Prayer by Danny Wilson was out at roughly the same time, and that song can bring back even more emotion than this one (especially when watching the video), but I digress.
@fandangoose I’ve known a woman I was head over heels for and she didn’t feel the same way yet would get jealous if someone else showed me attention…ppl can be weird like that so I think that’s what he’s referring to…mixed messages…

Probably the best Toto song. While there have been others that were bigger hits i.e. Rosanna, this song beats them all. Great lyrics, GREAT horns, fine looking girls in the video. BTW, they were the girlfriends/wives of the band members. Cool, huh?
I've recently bought Awesome 80's #8 and was glad to find this one included. I'm a die-hard Rosanna fan, it is their best, and Pamela will always be in its shadow, but I appreciated the two very lucid comments. Thank you for both your insights. The song is great and I've been replaying it at full volume, wow! Interesting what the second reviewer commented about the girls in the video being the wives and girlfriends. Well then, which one is Pamela? Wikipedia says one of the band members dated a Pamela at the time, and after all, this follows on Rosanna that was inspired by Rosanna Arquette. Anyway, a cool hit!
@ravenglam I think one was Mike Porcaro's wife, Cheryl. I saw a photo of him with one of the ladies, which appeared to be Cheryl.

Joseph said Pamela had long, dark hair. She's not in the video according to him, but a lady resembling her was used.

David Paich's wife, Lorraine, doesn't seem to be on the video. Luke was married to Marie Currie - I don't see her, either. Nor Jeff's wife.

Very catchy song. Some of Toto's best lyrics. Joseph Williams said he contributed to this song as it's loosely based on a "Pamela" he briefly dated.
