I Drank The Wine Lyrics

We made a deal in the car
You stay angry I'll feel nothing at all
And you gave me your heart
And I buried my heart
I'll never trust myself
I'll never trust myself again

I've got my foot in the van
And I don't expect you
To wear a flower in your hair
I've got my bags in the van
And I don't expect you
To wear a flower in your hair

We made a deal in the car
You stay angry
I'll feel nothing at all
And you gave me your heart
And I buried
And I buried my heart
And I buried my heart

I'll never trust myself
I'll never trust myself again
We made a deal in the car
You stay angry
I'll feel nothing at all
And you gave me your heart
And I buried
And I buried my heart
And I buried my heart

I drank the wine
And I threw away the rose
Threw away the rose

I'm leaving for good
My bags are in the van
And I don't expect
A kiss goodbye
A kiss goodbye

We made a deal in the car
You stay angry
I'll feel nothing at all
And you gave me your heart
And I buried
And I buried my heart

basically what RC-Cola said. it's about knowing you're beyond forgiveness and accepting that. a rose and some wine would be a typical gift to give to a lover, but he realizes it's pointless.

"i drank the wine and i threw away the rose."

It's about a guy who messed up a relationship and he knows it, so he's leaving and doesn't expect her to forgive him. It also might not necessarily be a boy/girl relationship, but just a trust thing in general, but it sounds pretty much like a relationship.

I always thought this one was a little bit darker in tone than just being beyond forgiveness for being a jerk.

I think it's about a guy who not necessarily rapes but pressures a girl into sex against her will. "We made a deal in the car you stay angry I'll feel nothing at all" - they got too far into it, now she resents him and he tries to ignore it. "I'll never trust myself again" because he knows he screwed up, and "I don't expect you to wear a flower in your hair" because the romance is gone.

The wine and the rose together maybe representing the girl, and saying "I drank the wine and I threw away the rose" might mean he used her body (the wine) and threw away her love (the rose). And now he's leaving and doesn't expect that she'll be sorry to see him go.
